Matched betting sites (also known as bonus bagging sites) are always something we keep an eye out for here at The Bookie Bible, particularly those sites that claim to make the whole process easy for users new to the gambling scene. So when the chaps over at Raid the Bookie asked us to write a review on their free service we jumped at the chance.
In a nutshell, Raid the Bookie is a matched betting service aimed at converting bookmaker signup bonuses into cash that you can withdraw. So they’ll have you sign up with each individual bookmaker and then walk you through exactly what to bet in order to unlock the free bonus. Once this free bonus has been unlocked there is then typically one further bet that then releases the bonus. It’s easy to think that there is some catch here but matched betting is a proven mathematical way to make money and has been around for as long as betting exchanges have existed.
So although the concept of Matched betting isn’t new, one of the main draws about Raid the Bookie is that it’s not like traditional online ‘tipster’ or ‘betting system’ websites. The owners say that your money is never at risk whilst using their site. They are so confident in this that they recently launched a 100% profit guarantee too. This guarantee ensures that as a user if you don’t make a profit following their advice then they will give you £100 in cash. This sounded like one of those ‘too good to be true’ scenarios and we were keen to try and prove their theory wrong and take their money!
After using their site for a few days we found much truth in their claims, so let us explain. Raid the Bookie has a professional look and we immediately found the user interface to be very simple to navigate and begin our first offer. As instructed, we began with the offer for Betfair …
At any point you will be able to easily see how much money is available overall based on all the bonus offers and then how much profit you have made along with an overall percentage of offers completed. When you begin the bonus they will ask you to visit the bookmaker, register and then make an initial deposit with that bookmaker. It’s important to point out that Raid the Bookie will never take any money from you, you are only ever making a deposit to the bookmaker whose bonus you are ‘bagging’.
Once you’ve done this you’ll then be presented with a qualifying bet selection screen:
We then went off to the bookmaker in question, placed the bet and waited patiently until the game was played. When the bet had settled with the bookmaker the free bet was then unlocked by Betfair. It did seem to take a little longer than we had hoped for and it was a good 6 hours after the bet settled that it was made available. We then returned to Raid the Bookie and confirmed the result of the game.
At this point we were walked through an almost identical process only this time we were betting with the free bet and not our own money. Fast forward 2 more days and the bet settled, leaving us with £24 profit. Whilst this doesn’t seem like a lot of money it’s important to mention that we have only completed the Betfair offer so far for the purpose of this review and when you work through all of the offers they have on their site we can see how the profits will quickly and easily mount up.
It does of course all depend on whether you already have accounts with these bookmakers or not as you will find these bonus offers are only released for new customers only, so it’s kind of a one time deal. If you are looking at a more long term approach to matched betting then you may want to look into OddsCatcher or one of our other matched betting systems.
In the few days that we used the site we noticed a few new offers appearing too, which was really encouraging that they have a decent team of developers adding new content and offers. There are a number of videos on their site which are designed to help new users understand matched betting such as the one below. They also have a full walkthrough video which is very helpful for first time gamblers.
Initial impressions on the service seems excellent and overall it is superb value for money, what with it being free and all! Ultimately, the thing to remember is that matched betting is risk free if done correctly and is a guaranteed way to make you money in the short term. The fact Raid the Bookie has systematically coded each bookmaker offer makes this a no brainer decision as to whether we would recommend this to any people new to matched betting.
